Plymouth Woman Accused of Taking Thousands of Dollars from ‘Endangered Adult’

A Plymouth woman has been indicted on three counts, amid allegations that she took thousands of dollars from an endangered adult before and after he died. Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman says that after Marvin L. Hummel Jr. passed away in 2018, his heir reported that funds were missing, and Indiana State Police began investigating.

A grand jury has indicted Donna Howell, 75, on a Level 5 felony count of theft exceeding $50,000 and a Level 6 felony count of exploitation of an endangered adult. Chipman says the third count alleges that “Howell exerted unauthorized control over additional money of Hummel, allegedly exceeding $750 but less than $50,000,” 13 days after his death, which is also a Level 5 felony

An initial hearing is scheduled for June 30 in Marshall Superior Court No. 1.
