The consultants working on the design for Bridge No. 11 on Union Road north over the Peter-Sarber Ditch south of U.S. 6 are reviewing the project with Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters.
Peters told the commissioners last week that the road is posted at a speed of 55 mph and the bridge will be designed for that speed, but things could change if the design takes it to the railroad tracks in that area.
“If that, by chance, does interfere with the railroad, we might look at doing a speed reduction on that to eliminate getting into the railroad of it because then you’re going to get permitting from the railroad too. So, if it gets to that point they’ll probably be looking at doing a different scale of a bridge to keep it from getting to that point,” stated Peters.
Construction on the bridge is expected to begin in 2025.
