The Marshall County Council members considered several grant application requests this week.
Marshall County Community Corrections Director Ward Byers asked permission to apply for his annual request for funding from the state for the 2021 budget. The total amount would be for $420,693 of which $39,500 would be for jail treatment, $319,229 for Community Corrections, and $61,964 for Prosecutor-Felony Diversion. He noted that there is no new money to request in 2021.
Marshall County Chief Probation Officer James Bendy asked to apply for a pre-trial grant through the Indiana Office of Court Services for a probation officer to oversee the assessments that are being done. The intake officer would be full-time to conduct data collection and data entry.
Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel asked to apply for reimbursement funds for the Comprehensive Highway Injury Reduction Program grant. He explained that it was previously called Operation Pullover and DUI Task Force. The officers will conduct saturation patrols throughout the year and whatever hours the officers worked will be reimbursed through this grant.
The Marshall County Council members approved all grant requests as presented.
