Marshall County Commissioners Approve Resolution for IHCDA Grant Application

A grant application will be submitted to the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority concerning the owner-occupied repair program in Marshall County following recent action by the Marshall County Commissioners.

Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Housing Committee Chairman Brent Martin asked the commissioners to approve a resolution asking for the grant application to be submitted in an amount not to exceed $500,000.

“That is for homeowners across Marshall County that are low and moderate income,” explained Martin.  “My experience with that program is most of it is to replace roofs, furnaces, hot water heaters – life safety-type issues.

“Even though that money is set aside through Stellar, we still have to go through the whole application process in order to actually access the money.”

The resolution officially asks for the grant money.  The county will not need to present a fund match for this grant.  The homeowners will not need to match any funds either.

The commissioners unanimously approved the resolution as presented.

Community meetings will be scheduled in the near future to inform residents about the program.
