The Bremen downtown street project will move forward this summer.
The downtown project will include the replacement of curbs and sidewalks and new lighting on Plymouth Street between Montgomery Street to Washington Street ahead of a paving project planned on that street by INDOT. INDOT plans to pave the entire length of State Road 106 through Bremen.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy explained that grant administrator paperwork needs to be signed that ensures that the town will be awarded the grant money for the project from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
“The project can’t go out for bids until OCRA has that money on hand which will be on July 15 now,” said Weldy. “We’re looking at August 10 for bid opening here at Town Hall for the downtown project. It will be a two-day turnaround with The Troyer Group saying it’s good with a start date of August 17. That’s kind of the timeline right now.”
Bremen Town Council President Bill Daily and Clerk-Treasurer Janet Anglemyer signed the paperwork so the town can receive the grant money for this project.
