Officials are working on a detour route for the upcoming Pioneer Drive project in Plymouth.
The purpose of the project is to widen a portion of Pioneer Drive in Plymouth to three lanes to accommodate an increase in truck traffic in that area north of U.S. 30 to 7B Road. The project is expected to go to bid this month.
Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the Marshall County Commissioners that he’s been working with Plymouth City Engineer Rick Gaul about using 7B Road from Pine Road to Oak Road as a detour for traffic in that area. The intersection with U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive will be closed for the reconstruction of that intersection. Gaul believes that the detour will be used for two months.
The City of Plymouth received Community Crossings funds to complete this project. The commissioners agreed to enter in an intergovernmental agreement to allow 7B Road to be used as a detour.
