All departments within the Town of Bremen will be working to put together amended policies in case an outbreak of the coronavirus occurs and causes a department to be without employees.
Town Attorney Anthony Wagner explained Monday night that town officials should have an amended plan in place in case an entire department is out because everyone is positive with COVID-19, or other serious issue.
“You would help identify that these are things that absolutely have to get done if a large portion of the department is out of commission. Also, note any recommendations or changes in shifts, and how you would adjust staffing. That would be a bigger issue mainly for the police department,” said Wagner.
He said if an employee that has cross-trained in more than one department then that can be identified.
Wagner hopes to put some amended policies together to present for approval in a future meeting.
“What are the things that absolutely have to get done in order to keep the lights on and the water running for all of the people who live in town and all of the businesses here?”
Wagner also provided the town council some information on when employees should stay home and what the town should implement. He asked Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy to take a closer look into those procedures to distribute to employees when finalized.
Bremen Town Council President Bill Daily asked if the town could acquire touchless thermometers in order to check employee temperatures. The health department may be able to supply the town with thermometers, but he was assured they will be acquired one way or another.
There may be some other changes made at the Town Hall to ensure a safer environment for the employees and the public, but nothing has been finalized.
