John Glenn School Board Approves Blacktop Bid

The John Glenn School Board members approved a bid Tuesday night for blacktop projects at all of the school’s facilities.

Three companies submitted bids for paving the parking lots at the John Glenn Administration Building, John Glenn High School, Walkerton Elementary School, Urey Middle School, and North Liberty Elementary School.

Superintendent Christopher Winchell recommended Rieth-Riley for the job as the company submitted the lowest bid out of the three contractors at $518,949.

Alternate bids were given for some extra work at the Walkerton Elementary School parking lot, curb replacement at all schools, and remove existing grass islands in the parking lot at Urey Middle School.  Since Rieth-Riley’s bid was below the anticipated estimate of the projects, Winchell recommended that they accept their alternate bids for a total amount of $653,060.   The board accepted the bid with the alternates as recommended with a unanimous vote.
