The Bremen Town Council members took action last week to donate money toward the Fund the Essentials campaign through the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Initiative Team, Marshall County Community Foundation and the United Way of Marshall County.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said the town’s contribution of $20,000 will help residents with food, housing and utility assistance.
Beyond that, the town council is working on a way to help the town’s businesses when they reopen for business next week. Weldy said there was discussion of potentially helping with utility bill forgiveness, but concrete plans haven’t been made. More discussion is planned at the town council’s next meeting on Monday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m. at Bremen Town Hall.
Several other municipalities have donated to the Fund the Essentials campaign. For more information, visit www.marshallcountycrossroads.com.
