Marshall County Treasurer Clarifies Escrow Information on 2019 Tax Bills

Marshall County Treasurer Angie Birchmeier says that the updated, uniform property tax statement is creating some concerns for Marshall County residents.

She says anyone who has a lender-paid tax bill will see a watermark on the front page of the statement that reads “In Escrow”.  If this is written on the tax coupon, residents need to contact their lender to ensure that the tax liability will be paid.

Governor Holcomb granted a 60-day waiver of penalties for non-escrow tax bills only.  The ability to pay the tax bills on time is strongly encouraged as taxes go toward county, city, town, library and school services to the taxpayer.

The Marshall County Building is currently closed to the public.  Payments may be accepted through the U.S. mail with a check, money order or cashier’s check.  Residents can also pay online at www.co.marshall.in.us by clicking on property taxes.  Credit or debit cards may be used where convenience fees may apply.

Property tax payments may be also be dropped off in a locked dropbox at the north and south entrances of the Marshall County Building.  The boxes are located between the doors in the vestibule and are checked several times a day.

During this uncertain time, Birchmeier invites residents with concerns to call her office at 574-935-8520.
