Marshall County Communities Awarded Community Crossings Matching Grant Funds

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced funds awarded for first round of Community Crossings Matching Grant projects in 2020.

As announced on Tuesday afternoon, over $126 million was awarded for projects in this round.

Marshall County was awarded the full yearly grant award of $1 million.  Highway Superintendent Jason Peters previously said the project will include a mill and fill resurfacing project on North Michigan Road from the roundabout north of the City of Plymouth to about 3A Road.  The millings will come back to the Marshall County Highway Department to be prepared and repurposed for use on other county roads.

In Argos, the $567,343 matching grant funds will be used to widen Dewey Street in order to accommodate heavy truck traffic from Sequel Wire.  The company is occupying a manufacturing center at that location.  Utility Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom said mill and fill operations will be conducted on Railroad, Apple, Clinton, Cherry, Church, and West Streets.

The Town of Bourbon was awarded $201,480 in matching grant funds.  Center Street off of old U.S. 30 will be resealed while Aster, Tulip and Crocus Courts off of Rose Lane will be repaved.  North Thompson Street will also be repaved.

The City of Plymouth was awarded $532,811 for the proposed Pioneer Drive project.
