La Porte, Cass Counties Show Increase in COVID-19 cases

The positive COVID-19 cases in La Porte County and Cass County increased significantly as shown in Sunday’s report from the Indiana State Department of Health.

Cass County had the most new cases with 273 while La Porte County saw an increase of 32 new positive COVID-19 cases diagnosed through testing at the Indiana State Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.  Cass County now has 586 positive COVID-19 cases with one death while La Porte County has 188 cases and five deaths. 

The report revealed that 634 additional Indiana residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19 which brings the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus to 15,012. 

A total of 813 Hoosiers have died of COVID-19.  Another 88 probable deaths have been reported.  State health officials say probable deaths are those “for which a physician listed COVID-19 as a contributing cause based on x-rays, scans and other clinical symptoms but for which no positive test is on record.”

Pulaski County is now at 13 positive COVID-19 cases, Starke County is reporting 15 cases while Marshall County is now up to 27. 

Information on how many people have recovered from COVID-19 is not available in the report.
