The Culver Town Council members reviewed information in a resolution Tuesday night that closes the Culver Public Beach during the course of the governor’s stay-at-home order.
The town council members want to protect the health of the residents and closing the beach will help in that effort. It was announced last week that the beach would close, but the council reviewed a resolution to support that action.
The closure was effective on April 10 at 8 a.m. ET. Park Superintendent Amber Cowell said the maintenance staff has worked to rope off the area and will be working to enforce the resolution.
She also said they are working to move the picnic tables from the grounds and store them for now. The Amphitheater is closed and the playground equipment is off limits to children.
The trails and open areas of the park remain open from 5 a.m. to midnight ET daily, but residents must exercise social distancing.
Violators of this resolution shall be fined a minimum of $100.
The resolution was approved with a unanimous vote.
