Culver Town Council Adopts Utility Service Policy

The Culver Town Council members adopted a resolution this week that amends the policy for utility customers.

The resolution states that no late penalties will be charged on bills due March 15, April 15 and May 15.  The amendments may be extended if the town council members vote to do so by the June 15 billing date.

Utility payments that may accumulate due to a COVID-19 hardship may be repaid with an agreement of terms up to 24 months for a Culver utility customer to repay fees accumulated in the February, March and April billing months.

For small businesses in the municipal boundaries of Culver, a utility debt relief program will be enacted for commercial entities open to the public as a business establishment.  The business must be open to the public before Feb. 1 and continuing in businesses after May 1 for period of at least six months and face a significant hardship due to COVID-19.  Applications must be submitted to the office of the Clerk-Treasurer no later than June 1, 2020.  The town council will review and approve applications at the first council meeting in June.  The maximum relief for utilities per business is capped at $1,500.
