The Culver Town Council members made the decision to extend the town’s Public Health Disaster Emergency Declaration Tuesday night.
The declaration allows the town to be reimbursed for funds used in the response to COVID-19.
The town is already helping the town’s small businesses in the Small Business Assistance Program to help owners with utilities, rent, mortgages, and payroll. When the stay-at-home order is lifted and the governor lifts the state’s Public Health Disaster Emergency Declaration, the council discussed going a step farther once business resumes.
Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe asked for the members’ thoughts on sprucing up the businesses that currently feature flower boxes. She noted that many businesses won’t have funds to do extra things like they typically do during the summertime and thought the town could help with purchasing flowers for the flower boxes. She said it would help usher the businesses back into operation and welcome shoppers back to Culver.
She got a quote from The Garden by Elizabeth for this endeavor and the council voted in favor of moving forward with this special project.
