Argos EMS Director Sarah McCallum recently updated the Argos Town Council members on ambulance runs.
She stated that they had 16 runs in January, but only eight of those are runs that can be charged. In 2020, she said they would be allowed to charge for refusals as directed by AccuMed, but that she’s not sure where they are with the company on that point. Currently, the department is only charging for transports.
McCallum said they haven’t heard much more from the Plymouth EMS on their rate proposal when they are called to assist departments. It was previously proposed that a $300 flat charge would be assessed, but Argos and Walkerton EMS officials expressed budget concerns over that proposed fee. Since then, Fire Chief Rod Miller indicated that a possible sliding fee scale is under more analysis.
