Marshall County Public Health Nurse Lisa Letsinger will be applying for a sizable grant from the Indiana State Department of Health Immunization Division.
Letsinger told the Marshall County Commissioners last week that the grant worth just over $60,000 would assist her department with several different items.
“That would include some equipment to expand storage for vaccines at the health department, and a language learning line that would help us communicate with our Hispanic population. It also covers other languages as needed. It also would include contract nursing to expand Amish clinics, evening clinics, Super Shot Saturday – those types of things,” explained Letsinger.
It is a reimbursable grant with funds coming from the CDC. Funds could be available through 2024 so the county could reapply up until that point.
The commissioners approved the grant request. The county council members are expected to review the same information during their meeting today.
