Plymouth Police Officer to Attend Training

A Plymouth Police Department officer will attend special training in Florida next month.

Police Chief David Bacon said the officer is currently going through Drug Recognition expert training in Indianapolis.  The second part of the training is set in Jacksonville, Florida in March.

The training is free, along with travel and accommodations.

During their most recent meeting, the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members approved the request to send the officer to the second round of training with a unanimous vote.

They also approved a request from Fire Chief Rod Miller to send four firefighters to a one-day training session that covers advanced structural firefighting hosted by the Angola Fire Department at Trine University.  The cost is $60 per volunteer firefighter.  Miller said it will be beneficial for them to bring back information to be shared with the rest of the department.
