The Culver School Board members considered the second reading of a social media policy at their school board meeting on Monday night.
The policy pertains to an employee’s use of social media.
Superintendent Karen Shuman previously said that the policy would require teachers to use platforms that have been approved by the school corporation, when talking with parents or students using personal or school-issued devices. A special app may soon be approved as an acceptable platform.
There are certain guidelines outlined in the NEOLA policy that discusses an employee’s conduct on social media and in what instance and manner a teacher may communicate with a student or student’s parent through social media.
The school board members approved the policy on the second reading.
