Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters is putting figures together to submit an application to INDOT for the January call for projects for the Community Crossings Matching Grant program.
Peters told the Marshall County Commissioners this week that he plans to submit a request for assistance in funding a mill and fill project on North Michigan Street from the roundabout at the Plymouth City Limits to about 3A Road.
The initial project estimate put the cost at about $1.7 million which is over what can be granted in a Community Crossings project. Peters said he plans to get some firmer numbers in place before going to the Marshall County Council on Monday, Jan. 13 to ask for matching funds for the project.
“I need to know what their food for thought is on this or where to possibly stop if we don’t do the entire project,” said Peters.
The project could be divided into two phases with the first half of the project to be done this year with the other half done in 2021. That decision has not been made yet.
The application deadline is Jan. 31.
