Culver Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim asked the town council members last week to approve several utility write-offs.
She explained that five accounts were presented for consideration by Deputy Clerk Julie Cowell.
“As you know, she’s pretty good about going after people on their utility bills and we’re very diligent about filing liens and getting them taken care of,” stated Heim. “Most of them are the property sold in such fashion that we didn’t catch it, or they sold so fast that by the time we realized it the property had gone on to someone else. We couldn’t file a lien and we had no forwarding address for the customer.”
The five accounts total $1,244.77.
The town council members approved the list of write-offs as presented.
Heim also noted that the town received $9,241.12 in the last property tax draw as a result of the collection of property tax liens filed over the past couple of years.
