Three Arrested in Separate Operating While Intoxicated Incidents

Three people were recently arrested on operating on OWI charges following separate investigations by officers from the Plymouth Police Department.

On Dec. 24 shortly after 2 a.m., Plymouth Police Department officers were notified of a person sleeping inside a car parked at the Family Express at 1628 W. Jefferson Street.  Officers reportedly found two people sleeping in the car with evidence of drug use, according to the report. 

Police say the driver, 27-year-old Joseph Vela, of Plymouth, was found to be operating a vehicle while intoxicated and in possession of heroin. The passenger, 36-year-old Joseph Hudson, of Plymouth, was also reportedly found to be in possession of heroin.  The pair was booked on those preliminary charges in the Marshall County Jail.

In a separate incident, 70-year-old William Gaddey, of New Carlisle, was pulled over in a traffic stop on Sunday, Dec. 29 around 2 a.m. after police say he was driving his vehicle on the sidewalk in the 100 East block of Garro Street.   Gaddey was arrested on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated with a previous conviction and operating while intoxicated endangerment.  He was booked into the Marshall County Jail on those preliminary charges.  His blood alcohol content at the time was reportedly nearly four times the legal limit.

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
