The Marshall County Council members considered two requests from Surveyor Craig Cultice when they met last week.
The Surveyor’s Office was anticipating the acquisition of two new vehicles, but that will not be happening after all. When the council members put together the surveyor’s budget for 2020, they took out about $1,000 for vehicle repair. Cultice asked that the money be put back into that line item in the budget since the older vehicles will be retained.
“I would like to put that back to what it has been for the past several years, $1,500, for vehicle repair for the two trucks. We did run out of money this year,” commented Cultice.
In the second request, Cultice asked to adjust hours and pay for the part-time field assistant. He explained that in 2017 the position paid $12 an hour for 30 hours a week. Based on the new study developed by Waggoner, Irwin and Scheele, the pay increased to $13.60 an hour, but the line item in the budget stayed at the same amount which would leave 18 hours a week for that employee at that rate of pay. Cultice asked the council to consider moving the position to 20 hours a week if the pay was going to stay at the $13.60 per hour rate.
The general consensus of the council was to support the advertisement of an additional appropriation for those requests in the 2020 budget during their January meeting. More discussion will be held on those requests at that time.
