Marshall County Highway Department crews are working to clean up after wind storms knocked down several trees in the county.
Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the county commissioners on Monday that while most of the debris was cleared more work is planned this week.
“We had thirty-six different locations where trees were down,” explained Peters. “We had only one other call-out and that was Saturday over on 10B Road where we had one tree down. From what we had to what we ended up with, it really wasn’t too bad at all.”
With the lack of snow in the forecast this week, Peters said workers will continue with various projects in the next few days.
“We’ll probably have some brush cutting crews out. Toward the end of the week we might have some decent weather so we might actually try crack-sealing a few sections of roads. We’ll be looking at berming some of the roads for next year for the road program, hauling in sand, and possibly start on some of the reclaimed roads for next year.”
He said crews are always ready in case the forecast changes where snow could impact travel.
