The Marshall County Commissioners considered quotes for four new police vehicles for the sheriff’s department.

Sheriff Matt Hassel said he obtained quotes from Country Auto and Oliver Ford.  He said Country Auto presented the lower quotes for three Dodge Durangos and one pick-up truck.

He said he priced 2020 V6 and 2020 V8 Dodge Durango pursuit vehicles.  He commented that the officers have made some remarks about the V6 engines in police interceptors.

“I feel like the Dodge Durango is a heavier vehicle and they’re having problems with quickness.  If they turn on a speeding motorist or try to catch up with a motorist, they’re having problems with the acceleration.  It’s not near as quick as the Ford.  I’m hoping that going with a V8 will eliminate that, plus the V8 is within my budget,” stated Hassel.

He said the price difference for the pickup was about $10,000.

Three Ford Explorers and a pick-up truck will be traded in with the quote.

The cost would be a total of $112,036 for the Dodge Durango V8s after the trade-in and a Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab 4X4 pick-up.   The commissioners approved the recommended quote from Country Auto.
