The Culver Town Council members will hold a public hearing on additional appropriations tonight that includes money to pay a demolition company to tear down the condemned, and fire-damaged, City Tavern Building at 415 Lake Shore Drive.
The town council awarded a demolition bid to Zehner Excavating in November at a cost of $50,000. Clean Air Environmental will take care of asbestos removal.
In order to satisfy the bid amount, the town council has to submit an additional appropriation request in the amount of $30,000 as there isn’t enough money in the Unsafe Building line item in the budget. Following the public hearing, the council will consider action on the additional appropriation request in the form of an ordinance. It will then go to the Department of Local Government Finance for approval.
In other business tonight, the council members will review the salary ordinance for first reading, and a Regional Stellar Communities Designation update will be given along with an idea of where the town’s Stellar Communities projects are as the year draws to a close.
Department heads also plan to give reports on various items when the Culver Town Council meets at 6:30 p.m. ET tonight at the Culver Town Hall at 200 E. Washington Street.
