Bremen Town Attorney Anthony Wagner presented an amended trash collection contract to the Bremen Town Council members Monday afternoon.
Wagner said wording was amended pertaining to recycling.
“Since the returns on that have plummeted, we had to include some backstops where if a load gets rejected what do they do with it then? So, we put some language in there to address that,” commented Wagner.
On top of that, recycling pickup would go to every other week which is what most other communities will have next year. Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said if there are residents who are more active with recycling, they can request an extra toter by calling Town Hall.
As previously reported, rates will increase for the first time in eight years. Rates will increase about $1.50 for the first year and then incrementally increase another $2.00 by the end of the five-year contract.
The company also offered to give the town 50 percent off Trash Days with supplying the dumpsters.
