The Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Communities Designation Initiative group members presented the county’s Regional Development Plans to state agencies on Tuesday morning. Marshall County and its communities are one of four regions vying for a chance to be named the next Regional Stellar Community and have about $16 million for projects around the county in the next four years.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy and Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe talked about the strengths of their presentation during their respective town council meetings on Tuesday. They both marveled at the four students from Bremen Public Schools who answered pointed questions from a state agency representative. The students stressed their excitement about their ideas being incorporated into the plan and seeing those projects through the process, if designated.
In addition to the Marshall County Region, the other finalists include Constellation of Starke with communities from Starke County, Jay! Region with communities from Jay County, and Safe and Welcome with communities from Henry County
The winner will be announced on Dec. 5.
