Bremen Town Council Opens Bids for Proposed Storm Sewer Replacement Project

The Bremen Town Council members opened bids Monday afternoon for the proposed storm sewer replacement project in the Parkview Subdivision.

Four bids were received from Haskins Underground, Inc. , Selge Construction Company, Inc., HRP Construction, Inc., and Walsh and Kelly, Inc.  The base bids ranged from about $299,500 to $493,300.  Alternate bids were also taken for paving, if accepted.  Those bids ranged from $62,120 to $73,730.

Ken Jones from Engineering Firm JPR recommended taking the bids under advisement and awarding the lowest confirming bid at the next meeting on Monday, Nov. 25.

Jones said several years after the Parkview Subdivision was accepted into the town, the storm sewer lines collapsed and the system hasn’t worked right since then.  Flooding and standing water occurs in the area when it rains.  The system will be corrected with this proposed project.  Jones indicated that a pre-construction meeting will be scheduled with property owners in that area as there could be some access issues when construction occurs.
