A bit of preliminary work to the Cavalier Sports Park project in Culver is complete, but further work will wait until 2020.
Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist told the Culver Town Council members this week that the crosswalk across School Street is done along with the sidewalk in that area.
The playground equipment and the restroom facility kit will arrive in January or February.
“Some of it was backordered and some of it was coming in this fall, but it sounds like they’re going to wait and do it all at once. You probably won’t see much change there until February,” commented Leist.
The Cavalier Sports Park project includes improvements to the soccer fields on the grounds of the Culver Community School Corporation, expanding the parking lots, moving the storm water retention pond to the east, building a restroom facility near the fields, adding a toddler park, and a walking trail on the perimeter of the park.
Funding for the project was released by the Office of Community and Rural Affairs that is estimated to cost $504,000. The town received a $500,000 grant to cover the cost of the project as part of Culver’s Stellar Communities Designation.
