The John Glenn School Board members opened a hearing Tuesday night to hear public comments on the 2020 budget.
The Education Fund is estimated at $11.6 million, while the Operations Fund is about $4.6 million. The Debt Service Fund is advertised at about $2.4 million and the Rainy Day Fund is at $300,000. The other funds to be adopted during the Oct. 15 meeting include the Exempt Debt Service Fund, the Exempt Retirement Severance Fund, Capital Projects Plan, and the Bus Replacement Plan.
The total budget is approximately $19 million.
In the corporation’s Bus Replacement Plan, three 14-passenger buses will be replaced at a cost of $60,000 apiece, while one 66-passenger bus will be replaced at about $100,000 for a total of $280,000.
The Capital Projects Plan includes the replacement of the chiller at the Walkerton Elementary School, paving and roof repairs at John Glenn High School, Urey Middle School, Walkerton Elementary School, and North Liberty Elementary School, while work will be done on the Urey Middle School gymnasium floor.
There were no public comments concerning the budget.
