The Culver Community Schools Corporation’s 2020 budget was adopted by the school board Monday, according to Superintendent Karen Shuman. The total budget adds up to more than $13.9 million. Just over $5.4 million of that will be the Education Fund, and a little more than $4.5 million will be the Operations Fund. $1.6 million is budgeted out of the revenues resulting from last year’s property tax referendum.
Shuman says school officials aren’t anticipating any major changes in the property tax rate next year. “When you’re dealing with tax rates, it’s always requested higher in order to meet the budget,” she explains, “but we wait for the Department of Local Government Finance to determine those tax rates come December.”
Shuman previously said the school corporation’s 2020 budget is about one percent smaller than this year’s, due to reductions in Title I, special education, and pre-K funding. The budget now goes to the DLGF for final approval.
