Jackson Street Property in Bremen Set for Demolition

The home at 121 S. Jackson Street in Bremen is set for demolition, but the sheriff’s deed is needed before the work can be done.

Bremen Town Attorney Anthony Wagner informed the town council members last week that he believes the winning bidder of the property has the sheriff’s deed and once it is turned over to the town, the town can do whatever it wants with the property.

Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy stated that he has a company set to demolish the building prior to Wednesday, Sept. 4.  He hopes to have the house torn down at least by Oktoberfest which is slated for Friday, Sept. 27.

The town plans to use that space for a larger streetscape project in a flex street.  A flex street allows daily traffic and parking while being flexible and accessible for events and festivals.  There are no curbs which allows as a shared space for vehicles and pedestrians.  A pavilion will be in the middle of the road.
