The Bremen Town Council members took action Monday afternoon to approve a trash collection contract.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy presented the council members with a contract renewal proposal from the town’s current vendor during an earlier meeting this month. After not seeing an increase in rates the past eight years, the rate would increase about $1.50 for the first year and then incrementally increase another $2.00 by the end of the five-year contract. Recycling would go to every other week which is what most other communities will have next year.
The company also offered to give the town 50 percent off Trash Days with supplying the dumpsters.
Weldy recommended the contract renewal and the council members unanimously approved that recommendation.
