Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel asked permission from the commissioners this week to apply for a grant for pull over/DUI enforcements.
The OPO grant has been renamed to Comprehensive Hoosier Highways Injury Reduction Program (CHIRP) grant and will include a grant amount for all of the police agencies who participate in the enforcement efforts in the county. Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and Plymouth, Culver, Bremen, and Bourbon Police Departments will benefit from the grant.
Bremen Officer Troy Ulch will be the grant writer, but the funds will come into the Marshall County Auditor’s Office on a reimbursement basis.
Ulch previously explained that the officer will turn in hours worked and that information is submitted for reimbursement through the grant.
The grant is due Aug. 30.
The commissioners unanimously approved the request.
