Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist updated the town council members last week on the latest activity concerning the donated property at 530 S. Ohio Street.
In June, the property was given to the town where the town only had to pay upwards of $12,000 for closing costs, title insurance and appraisals. The building was previously said to be appraised around $245,000.
Leist said he and Councilman Rich West met with an architect and walked through the building to get an idea of whether or not to remodel or demolish the building. Leist said the architect said it would be feasible to remodel the building. The architect noted that its only a one-story building and it’s mostly ADA compliant.
A written evaluation will be provided before the Culver Redevelopment Commission’s meeting on Monday night.
Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe suggested engaging the community in what residents want to do with the building. That type of communication may occur this fall.
