A Knox school administrator has been named the new assistant principal at Culver Community Middle/High School. The hiring of Josh Pugh was announced on the school’s Facebook page Monday. The job became open when the school board decided to separate the assistant principal position from the athletic director position last month.
Pugh comes to Culver from Knox Middle School, where he served as assistant principal, then principal, and then assistant principal again. Before that, he taught at Knox Elementary.
Knox School Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart thanked Pugh for his years of service during Monday’s school board meeting. “I think he’s been here for 19 years, he told me,” Reichhart said. “I know he loves being here, but at the same time, he wants to go back home and go where his children are going to school and they live in Culver. So I do understand that desire to go back home.”
Reichhart said school officials are in the process of finding a replacement. So far, they’ve gotten more than 24 applications, and Reichhart said they’ve already identified four strong candidates. “We’ll have a committee of staff at KMS to interview the four, maybe five if we go one more, and I think out of those five, we’ll have a really good candidate to bring to the board on the September 3 board meeting, with the intention of that person starting right after that, as soon as we can get a release from the other district in that capacity.” Reichhart said the candidates are generally from nearby counties.
