Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy is looking for names of those who have low-to-moderate incomes who could benefit from home repairs.
Weldy explained to the Bremen Town Council members last week that a grant is available through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority where homeowners could get some assistance in funding needed repairs in their homes.
“They’ll get a $25,000 grant and they don’t have to pay it back,” said Weldy. “They can use it on a new roof, new windows, new bathroom, or a new kitchen. It’s for these residents who can prove that they need the help.”
Weldy is hoping to get three or four names on a list that needs to be submitted next week.
This is contingent on whether or not the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Community initiative is designated a Stellar Community. About $250,000 would be available for the entire county if the county wins the designation.
