The Marshall County Courthouse annex patio will undergo repairs soon.
Maintenance Director Doug Masterson asked the commissioners to approve a quote from DR Masonry to do the work to install drain there and redo the concrete. In a previous discussion, Masterson asked if the County Highway Department could tear out the concrete to alleviate costs. However, Masterson said Monday morning that it would be easier for the company to do it, especially with highway department crews being a month behind schedule.
With the added work of tearing out the concrete on the east side of the courthouse, the price to do the work will be $67,500.
The repair is expected to stop water from getting into the elevator room which has been an issue for a number of years.
The company could start as early as Aug. 5, but an additional appropriation will likely need to go before the Marshall County Council for approval at their next meeting on Aug. 12. The funds aren’t available in the maintenance department’s budget for the expense.
The commissioners did approve the quote as submitted with council approval.
