Repair work is anticipated soon on the patio on the east side of the Marshall County Courthouse Annex.
Commission President Kevin Overmyer mentioned that the steps in the patio area are sinking and water is getting into the basement.
County Maintenance Director Doug Masterson brought information before the commissioners last week. He said out of the seven contractors he’s talked to only one gave him a reasonable response to the issue. Masterson said a crew from DR Masonry would put in drain tile at that location which should solve the water issue. Water currently gets into the elevator room where dehumidifiers are constantly running. This spring, Masterson commented that the hydraulic fluid was cleaned out at a cost of about $14,600.
If the Marshall County Highway Department can help with the removal of the concrete at the site, the company would do the work for about $48,500, although that amount is not set in stone. The commissioners approved a motion that would allow Masterson to move forward in gathering the necessary paperwork to get the project on the schedule. When all of that is set and a more solid figure is discussed, Masterson will return with that information for approval.
