Marshall County Coroner John Grolich presented a mutual aid agreement to the county commissioners Monday morning that would allow him to partner with adjoining counties in case of a disaster.
Grolich said the agreement would be between Marshall, St. Joseph, Kosciusko, and La Porte Counties.
“We’ll actually share resources in the event of some type of catastrophic event,” commented Grolich. “If we have a large number of fatalities, we would have immediate access to resources.”
The county would have to reimburse whatever items may be used and vice versa.
Grolich said the insurance carrier reviewed the document as well as County Attorney Jim Clevenger and everything appeared to be in order.
Commission President Kevin Overmyer asked about Starke County and Fulton County and Grolich said he believes those two counties will participate as well.
The commissioners approved the mutual aid agreement as presented.
