An issue with refunding pier slip reservations will be considered when budget talks are conducted in the next few weeks by the Culver Town Council.
Park Superintendent Amber Cowell explained to the council members last week that she is currently in the process of putting together the 2020 contract for pier slips. One thing she’d like to address is the refund policy for pier slip rentals before the contract is sent out for next year.
She’s run into the problem of people going through the process of doing all of the paperwork, signing the contract and paying all of the money for the rental and then canceling a week later. She said some people are just saving a spot with her in case they can’t get one at the Culver Marina.
Cowell said refunds are currently prorated depending on the length of time the lease is active before termination. She’s hoping that there could be a service charge to deter that activity or non-refundable application fee.
Cowell will give it more thought and make a recommendation during budget discussions.
