New Urey Middle School Principal Chosen, Not Named

A selection of a new Urey Middle School Principal is done, but the name of the new principal was not released Tuesday night.

John Glenn School Corporation Superintendent Richard Reese told the school board members Tuesday night that he, Christopher Winchell, Tom Bendy and other school officials recently met with candidates in the second round of interviews where a new principal was selected.  Incoming Superintendent Christopher Winchell is expected to announce the candidate at the next school board meeting on Tuesday, June 18.

Reese said Winchell wanted to make sure that the candidate would accept the job before the new principal is formally introduced during a school board meeting. He also wanted to notify the other candidates who were not offered the position.

Mark Maudlin is leaving as the Urey Middle School Principal after serving in that position for the past 10 years.  His last day is June 30.  He will begin his job at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Valparaiso as the principal there on July 22.
