Two Marshall County buildings will receive new life-saving equipment following discussion held by the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning.
Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery told the commissioners that the health department purchased two Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) with a grant in 2013 which were placed in the Marshall County Building. A third device on the third floor of the county building eventually went to the health department building.
An AED was purchased for the Marshall County Courthouse, but it is no longer being supported by the manufacturer.
The Marshall County Safety Committee learned of the outdated device and decided to ask the commissioners to purchase a new device.
Coroner John Grolich said he could purchase the devices for $1,000 apiece.
The commissioners approved a motion to buy an AED for the courthouse and one for the third floor of the county building for $1,000 per device. They also approved funding for a wall-mounted case for the device, if needed, at either or both locations.
