Culver Utility Superintendent Bob Porter wants to replace a 1994 snow plow truck and sought the council’s approval to move forward.
He initially told the council that a salesman with a demo truck approached him at his office and allowed Porter to look at it and offered it to the town at significant cost reduction.
While Porter said the price was right and the truck was ready to be a part of the fleet with trading in the older piece of equipment, Town Attorney Jim Clevenger thought it best that Porter and Town Manager Jonathan Leist obtain quotes from at least three other sources of a comparable truck. It could be a demonstration truck or a used, low-mileage plow truck that would fit the needs of the town. Those quotes will be presented to the Culver Town Council members during their next meeting on Tuesday, June 25.
