Plymouth Redevelopment Commission Approves Contribution Toward Stellar Effort

The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission members renewed an effort to assist the county in becoming a Regional Stellar Designee.

Marshall County Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Jerry Chavez asked the RDC to commit $17,000 toward the investment of marketing and development of the Regional Development Plan for the finalist application in the Regional Stellar Communities Designation Program.

The Troyer Group and Big Idea Company agreed to assist the Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Initiative again this year as they expand on last year’s RDP to include quality of life aspects to this year’s plan in the hopes of winning the $16 million awarded to the Regional Stellar Designee.

Even if Marshall County doesn’t win the top prize, the county will receive $333,000 to go toward a county-wide project outlined in the plan.

Chavez explained that all Redevelopment Commission members are being approached to make a commitment as well as all municipal entities and township boards.

The Culver Redevelopment Commission already approved its contribution as well as Union Township and the Town of Culver.  The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission also pledged their contribution of $17,000 in the effort.  With that approval, Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi said he’d develop an interlocal agreement for that contribution.  It will be ready for signature at the commission’s next meeting in June.
