Minor Flooding Forecast in Marshall County

The threat of flooding in Marshall County continues to rise with consistent rain.

Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery says the National Weather Service predicts 1.5 inches of rain through Thursday which increases the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

The Marshall County Commissioners implemented an “Advisory” travel level which is the lowest level of travel restriction.  Routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation.

Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters said there are numerous roads with high water and he anticipates closing some roads for safety.

Ditches and creeks will rise as well as river levels.  Be cautious driving on water-covered roads at night.  Water depths can be harder to see at night.

Avery advises residents to move vulnerable property to higher ground you live in a low lying area susceptible to flooding.

Monitor weather conditions and be ready to take emergency action to find safer shelter should conditions worsen.
