There will be more money for the road program this year after the consideration of an additional appropriation request.
Highway Superintendent Jason Peters asked the Marshall County Council members for permission to spend $300,000 in the Local Roads and Streets line item for the 2019 road program, which was approved. That brings the total to almost $1.9 million for projects this year.
Peters previously announced that the plan includes 58 miles of chip sealing, 7.5 miles of double chip and sealing and four different segments of road for crack sealing.
The county council also approved additional appropriations for the highway department in the amount of almost $49,000 for the reappropriation of fuel charges for departments and outside agencies, as well as the reappropriation of $60,000 for the sale of equipment to Starke County.
