As water levels continue to rise, Highway Department crews work to monitor the depth of water on roadways.
Starke County Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler says all roads in the county have some sort of water cover. One road is closed due to dangerous levels: 900 E. from 550 S. to 625 S.
Officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation say that State Road 10 between U.S. 31 and State Road 331 in Marshall County is closed due to flooding at Deer Creek.
In Marshall County, Highway Superintendent Jason Peters closed nine area roads for safety.
Those roads include:
Hawthorn to Gumwood
King Road to Jarrah Road
Grape to Hickory
7B to 7th
Iris to Hawthorn
Beech to Cedar
West of Rose
6th to 7th
Hickory to Gumwood
High water signs are visible on several other roads in the county. Peters urges drivers to seek an alternate route of travel. Don’t attempt to drive on roads that are closed by barricades.
