Early Voting Continues in May Primary Municipal Election

Opportunities remain to vote early in the May Primary Municipal Election.

As of Thursday morning, 573 ballots have been cast with 451 of those as walk-in votes in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office.

The Plymouth Community School Corporation’s referendum question tops interest in this election. 

The proposed question reads:  “For the eight (8) calendar years immediately following the holding of the referendum, shall the Plymouth Community School Corporation impose a property tax rate that does not exceed nineteen cents ($.19) on each one hundred ($100) of assessed valuation that is in addition to all other property taxes imposed by the school corporation for the purpose of funding student safety initiatives, mental health support and programs, and attracting and retaining teachers?”

One race finds Incumbent Republican candidate Mark Senter and Republican Ben Fisher looking to be the party’s representative on the ballot for Mayor of Plymouth.  That candidate would face Democrat Josh Walker in the November Municipal General Election. 

Four Republican candidates are looking to fill three seats on the Plymouth City Common Council At-large seats.  Greg Compton, Nick Fisher, Burke Richeson and Incumbent Bill Walters are on the ballot. 

In Bremen, six Republican candidates filed for four open At-Large Town Council seats.  Barb Sauter and Michael Venable filed along with Incumbent Bremen Town Council members Bill Daily, Rick Graverson, James Leeper and Michael Leman.

Three Republican candidates are running for two seats on the Bourbon Town Council.  Ward Byers, Philip John Hanley and Larry Wattenbarger and voters will select two for the General Election ballot. 

Four Republican candidates are looking to fill three Culver Town Council seats.  Robert Cooper, Ginny Bess Munroe, Judy Price Reynolds, and Sally Ricciardi are on the ballot.  They will face Democrats Sue McInturff and Richard “Rich” West in the November Municipal General Election.

Early voting continues today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Marshall County Clerk’s office.  Early voting is available on Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the clerk’s office, the Bremen Town Hall and the Culver Town Hall.  The final opportunity to vote absentee is Monday, May 6 from 8 a.m. to noon.
